Washington is now the first in the nation to permanently license outdoor, nature-based child care for preschool and school-age children under a new law signed by Gov. Jay Inslee.
Authorization Changes for Licensed Family Homes Beginning 7/1/2021
Monthly Units
Beginning July 1, 2021, all base rate payments for licensed family homes will be authorized as a monthly unit. Providers can claim the monthly unit if the child was in care during any day covered by the authorization. If the authorization is for less than the full month, the system will automatically adjust for the days authorized in the month. Families must request changes to the authorized monthly units.
Recruiting Parent Advisory Group Members
The Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) is recruiting for our Parent Advisory Group (PAG). The PAG is made up of parents and family caregivers of children (birth through nine years old) and functions as a sounding board for decisions, ideas, and questions.
